WHAT IS “RUN JOE RUN”?
To be real, I’m not sure where the idea of “Run Joe Run” specifically came from. I've, of course, run my whole life. I was a junior olympian in track and field growing up. Captain of the basketball team in high school. Played college football. Running has always been a part of my life.
I guess I didn’t really appreciate it until I had a bad injury in college playing football that had me sidelined for almost 18 months. I couldn’t run without pain. But the first time I finally did, I knew my relationship with running had changed. I actually appreciated it as a fundamental component of human existence. I chose to begin studying it, and sports science in general more intensely. Also, at the time the NCAA owned the likeness of all student athletes. You couldn’t really do much to make money but you could personal train. That stuck in the back of my mind so I decided to get certified as a run coach and personal trainer.
15 years or so later that took off and allowed me to coach numerous athletes, be signed to Nike, train celebrities etc, but most importantly run everything from fast miles to fast marathons around the world.
Running has boomed substantially so this website is a living archive of all my running experiences and nuggets that can easily be applied to make you a better runner if you so choose. To me though, it is also about the culture and experiences of running. Running has proven to be a great equalizer but I also think it tells a lot about us as humans the different ways we engage in it.
Anyway, this will be updated consistently. The form is not final so be sure to keep coming back to check out the additional knowledge that can be helpful, whether you are just starting out or advanced.
Keep striding and striving,
